A Better Quality of Life for You
and Your Child

On November 13, 1999 a free conference for families of special needs children entitled "A Better Quality of Life For You and Your Child" will be held from 8:00 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. at the new offices of United Cerebral Palsy, located at 3305 South

Orange Avenue in Orlando.

The purpose of the conference is to encourage, educate and empower the families of children with special needs. It will feature a series of speakers who will focus on approximately 12 different topics including the laws that protect the educational rights of people with disabilities, high school transition, effective letter writing, how to write an Individualized Education Plan (IEP) and much more. Several workshops will be conducted in Spanish.

Is Your Child Artistic?

artistic.gif (1408 bytes)No, we’re not mocking the most frequent ill-informed question posed to parents of children with autism! We are looking to show Central Florida the many talents of our constituents (those are the people with autism and related disabilities).

We hope to display artwork at the Winter Park Arts Festival next spring. The festival is attended by thousands, and is an excellent opportunity for us to show off the wonderful sculptures, textile art, drawings, paintings and other artwork we have seen in your homes and classrooms.

If your child or student is artistically talented, please call us to let us know—we’re looking for anything that will stand up or be hung up. The artist will not have to be present, the display will be manned and all works of art will be returned after the festival. Help us show how wonderful these people are! Contact Irene at 407 823 2176.
