Meeting the Challenges of Central Florida

To date, 304 constituents have joined the CARD registry, and many have begun to take advantage of our services.  While we're sure all the families were there before the center opened, they are now very visible reminders of the need for additional staff to serve the area adequately.  Fortunately, we will soon be receiving additional funding that will enable us to hire more staff.

While we have only two official staff, we currently have 3 undergraduate students who are assisting with our CARD Camps support program and office organization.  In addition, two educational professionals are assisting us with serving constituents, training, and materials preparation while school is out.

Thanks to these efforts, we now are assisting 15 students in 9 summer camps, and have compiled a list of 14 additional students with autism.  We are also having the greater Orlando ASA resource booklet translated into Spanish.  Additionally, we are beginning to collaborate with Developmental Services to provide initial behavioral strategies to parents with newly diagnosed children.

While we want to be ablcomputer.gif (3035 bytes)e to offer everything at once, we are making progress and thank you for your continued patience and support/
